The
Seldek flashing system has been developed to
compliment the wide range of SFL flue, chimney
and exhaust systems and can be used to weather any
other pipe protrusion.
There are four flashings,
each of which is designed to weatherproof the
diameter range of SFL flue, chimney and exhaust
systems, and each flashing is designed to accommodate
flat through angled roof pitches. In most cases, pitches
up to 45° can be accommodated, but for full details
and flashing number requirements, please read the compatibility
matrix detailed in the Seldek brochure.
The Seldek flashing systems consist
of a base manufactured from a soft and malleable aluminium,
to which an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer
Polymer) flexible cone is secured. The cone is marked
to provide an index of cutting grooves identified for
different external diameters. Installation instructions
and compatibility information is provided with each
Flashing.
Whilst the aluminium base is of a very malleable
grade, some roof tiles may have profiles too severe
for this product. Please contact SFL if in doubt.
The Seldek
flashing systems will accommodate all SFL
chimney systems of external diameter between 60mm and
450mm, and will effectively seal and remain pliant over
a wide range of temperature extremes, from -30 to 115°C.
The EPDM cones have been proven to withstand intermittent
temperatures of up to 150°C. Where SFL flue
and chimney systems are correctly applied to heating
equipment operated in accordance with the manufacturers
instructions, it is unlikely that the external temperature
of the chimney or flue will reach 150°C.
Whilst designed specifically
for SFL's range of flue, chimney and exhaust
systems, the Seldek flashing systems may also, with the
same temperature limitations applying, be fitted to any
circular section projection which requires weathering
at a roof or wall penetration. The pipe diameter range
is indicated in the compatibility matrix in the Seldek
brochure.
